When my front tooth was knocked out I was reluctant to have yet another routine bridge. It would mean having my adjacent healthy teeth cut down, to make the end supports for a conventional bridge. The pictures on the left show the gap and then my new tooth, which is built on an implant. It is totally independent and doesn’t compromise my other healthy teeth.

I wasn't walking around with a tooth missing either, because I had a temporary stick-on bridge whilst the implant healed.

Look at the picture on the left... it seems ridiculous now but I was prepared to put up with the awful state of my teeth rather than face the alternative of dentures. It got to the point where I could no longer ignore the pain and embarrassment. I had to do something but going through the trauma of extractions only to be rewarded with a removable denture seemed a poor option.

As you can see from the picture on the left, multiple dental implants were a highly acceptable alternative to dentures. I am absolutely delighted not just with my new teeth but also my healthy gums. I now have new teeth which are all MINE.

I didn't know this, but one of the jobs for the bone in the jaw is to hold the roots of teeth. Of course, when you have extractions the bone is virtually redundant and begins to shrink and affect the stability of other teeth, so the whole process is debilitating. Implants take the place of roots and this gives the bone something to do. So there is even more reason to opt for dental implants over conventional treatments.

Wearing uncomfortable dentures did nothing for my self esteem. I had nightmares about them slipping out in the middle of a business lunch because my concentration had slipped whilst I was eating. The worst part was taking them out every night. I looked so awful and it made me feel old before my time. Hiding my mouth behind my beard did little to bring back my self respect.

I now have multiple implants which retain my new dentures, as you can see on the left. They don’t feel like dentures because they are a part of me. They are not something I wear. This feels natural and the pride in my appearance is restored, both inside and out.

My mother put up with ill-fitting dentures for years. It was the bane of her life and I did not want to repeat the pattern. I am fortunate to have had the option of Dental Implants. Brenda

My teeth are now a natural part of me and not something I take out at night and soak in a glass. Dental Implants gave me a second chance, and this time I really will look after my teeth. Clive
